The Dewan Negara concluded its Second Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 15th Parliament after over 10 days of sessions. The Senate passed three important bills aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s economy and governance. The Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties (Amendment) Bill 2025, introduced by Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong, seeks to protect local industries from unfair foreign trade practices. Additionally, the Consumer Credit Bill 2025 and the Government Procurement Bill 2025, both under the Ministry of Finance, were debated and approved during the sitting. These legislative measures are expected to enhance consumer protection, improve government procurement processes, and bolster the nation’s fiscal position.
