MERSING, Oct 1 — Zalini Dahlan, a 51-year-old contract cleaner who was severely injured in an elephant attack near SK Felda Tenggaroh 5, has regained consciousness after being placed in an induced coma for two days.
Mersing deputy police chief DSP Sharif Sharif Mondoi confirmed that Zalini is stable but still weak, under close supervision at Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru.
Zalini suffered fractures to his hip and rib, as well as head injuries. The attack also claimed the life of his friend, Mohamad Syafik Yakob, 31, who was attempting to drive the wild elephant away from the area.
