KUALA LUMPUR — The draft of the Senior Citizens Bill, aimed at safeguarding elderly rights and welfare, is complete and expected to be tabled in Parliament next year, says Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
She said the draft will be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers by year-end, following further consultations with industry players and state governments, including Sabah and Sarawak.
Speaking at the ASEAN + Republic of Korea Conference on Care and Support for Older Persons, Nancy highlighted the need for inclusive input from all states.
“There’s growing interest in the caregiving industry, so we’re engaging stakeholders nationwide to ensure the bill reflects everyone’s needs,” she said.
Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad and Korean Ambassador to ASEAN Lee Jang Keun were also present at the event.
