KUANTAN — A former administrative assistant, Nurul Syafiha Awang Za, 36, was sentenced to three months in jail and fined RM20,000 (or six months’ jail in default) by the Sessions Court today for misappropriating over RM41,000 in death benefits meant for seven Felda settlers.
She pleaded guilty to committing criminal breach of trust (CBT) between February 2018 and 2019 while working at the Felda Sungai Panching Timur office. Entrusted with RM41,652.42 by Roslan Kumin, she instead used the funds for personal use.
The mother of three was charged under Section 406 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 10-year jail term, whipping, and a fine. The case was prosecuted by MACC's Kamariah Seman, while Nurul Syafiha was represented by Datuk Syed Azimal Amir.
