ISTANBUL — Turkey’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met with senior Hamas leader Mohammad Darwish and his delegation on Sunday to discuss Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis and efforts to broker a ceasefire, Anadolu Agency reported.
The closed-door meeting focused on facilitating urgent aid access, achieving a lasting truce, and uniting Palestinian factions during this critical time.
This comes as global mediators continue talks to end the 20-month Gaza conflict, with U.S. President Donald Trump expressing optimism about a ceasefire “within the next week.”
Though food deliveries have resumed via the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, famine fears remain as aid distribution has led to deadly incidents, according to Gaza officials and eyewitnesses.
