KUALA LUMPUR — Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing defence in Sabah, despite the state currently being safe.
He said Sabah’s geographic position makes it more vulnerable to threats, which is why continued focus on its security remains a priority.
During his visit to Tawau, he officiated the Malaysia Service Medal Award Ceremony and thanked Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans for their sacrifices, saying national peace wouldn’t be possible without them.
He also encouraged veterans to keep supporting the MAF through the “Whole of Government, Whole of Society” approach and pledged to continue improving veteran welfare, noting rising allocations for their needs.
Khaled expressed hope that MAF veterans’ dedication would inspire future generations to defend and serve the nation.
