SINGAPORE — A 30-year-old national serviceman (NS man) collapsed and died after completing an NS FIT session at Maju Camp on June 30, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) confirmed.
The NSman had completed his workout and left the camp around 8.11pm, but collapsed just outside. A passer-by called for an ambulance at 8.16pm, and paramedics arrived minutes later. Despite resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead at 9.54pm at National University Hospital.
In response, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has suspended all NS FIT sessions until July 4 to review safety protocols.
Mindef extended condolences to the family and assured ongoing support, while investigations into the cause of death continue.
