GEORGE TOWN — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the government will act on any reports of profiteering following the implementation of new electricity tariffs today.
To ensure fair pricing, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has launched Ops Kesan 4.0. Fahmi said he's in constant contact with KPDN to monitor complaints from the public.
He noted that 23.6 million consumers may benefit from reduced bills, as the new base tariff is 19% lower than earlier estimates. Those using under 1,000 kWh monthly may see no change or even lower charges.
From today, 2pm to 10pm is considered peak hours. Fahmi encouraged consumers to shift heavy energy use to off-peak periods to save more.
