Elderly Woman Dies in Kota Kinabalu House Fire

KOTA KINABALU — A 72-year-old woman, Ng Su Yen, was found dead after a fire razed a two-storey house along Jalan Kokol in Kampung Mansiang on Monday night.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 8.27pm and dispatched teams from the Lintas and Kota Kinabalu stations. The victim was found unresponsive at 9.02pm and pronounced dead at the scene.

The 60x40-foot home was completely destroyed. Twenty personnel and three fire engines were deployed, using a 100-foot hose and two water jets to control the blaze.

The body was handed over to the police, and operations ended at 11.30pm.
