Menora Tunnel Bomb Scare Triggers 15km Jam

KUALA LUMPUR — A suspected 81mm mortar bomb found during landscaping near KM265 of the North-South Expressway, about 4km from the Menora Tunnel, caused a 15km traffic jam yesterday.

The unexploded ordnance (UXO) was discovered around 9.30am, prompting a temporary closure of both lanes between Kuala Kangsar and Ipoh. The bomb squad safely detonated the device without any casualties or damage.

Perak police confirmed the area is now safe. All lanes reopened by 3.44pm, according to PLUS Malaysia Berhad.
