GEORGE TOWN — The decomposed bodies of a woman and her two-year-old child were found in a flat on Jalan Bukit Gambir after neighbours, who believed they had moved out, reported a foul smell. Authorities were alerted around 4.41pm and discovered the remains during an inspection.

The woman, 40, had reportedly lived there with her child after a divorce and was unemployed. Her sister, Nor, last saw her in late May. Neighbours hadn’t heard from her in weeks and assumed she had relocated, as she had mentioned plans to move due to the flat being auctioned.

The bodies have been sent to Penang Hospital for post-mortem. Identities are pending official confirmation.
