JOHOR BARU — A fatal crash involving a tour bus, tow truck, and tanker lorry at KM80.7 of the Southbound North-South Expressway near Ayer Hitam just after midnight claimed two lives and left 16 others injured.
The victims, both Indonesian men identified as Hidirman, 43, and Zulhadi, 44, were trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene.
Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue chief Mohamad Shamin Mohamed Salikin said they received a distress call at 12.44am and dispatched a rescue team from Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng.
Of the 46 people on the bus, 16 were injured, including the driver, while 28 escaped unharmed. The rescue operation ended at 3.03am.
