KUALA LUMPUR — Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Hasnah Mohammed Hashim, now temporarily handling the Chief Justice’s (CJ) duties, is set to retire on November 14 after reaching the mandatory retirement age in May.

Malaysia’s judiciary is currently facing a leadership gap, with both the CJ and President of the Court of Appeal (PCA) posts vacant following the retirement of Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and Tan Sri Abang Iskandar, who both turned 66 this week.

Hasnah, serving on a six-month extension, will continue to oversee both CJ and CJM responsibilities until a new CJ is appointed. Meanwhile, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Sebli is due to retire on July 24.

No successors have been named yet, and Cabinet discussions on the matter remain minimal.
