KUALA LUMPUR — Passengers on express and tour buses can report faulty seatbelts directly to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) through the MyJPJ app or via email, with photo or video evidence and journey details to aid investigations.

Kuala Lumpur JPJ director Hamidi Adam said bus drivers must remind passengers to buckle up before trips, as part of efforts to improve safety and reduce accident fatalities.

During a recent seatbelt operation at the Gombak Toll Plaza, 23 passengers were fined for not wearing seatbelts—most claiming they were unaware it was mandatory.

Two drivers were also cited for right-lane driving and faulty emergency doors. The operation inspected 44 buses in total.

JPJ reminded all parties—passengers, drivers, and authorities—to work together for safer public transport, with seatbelt use made compulsory since July 1.
