BUTTERWORTH — A wiring company owner was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court after admitting to cheating a school’s PTA by underdelivering Smart TVs.

Mohd Khairudin Ali Amran, 40, was charged with deceiving the PTA into paying RM20,000 for six 65” Philips Smart TVs but only supplying four, in an incident on May 26, 2023.

He was convicted under Section 417 of the Penal Code and faces five months in jail if the fine isn’t paid.

In court, the unrepresented Khairudin pleaded for leniency, citing financial responsibility for his wife, two children — one with a disability — and his mother.
