SHAH ALAM — A 39-year-old accountant, Thaha Abdul Latef, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to charges of neglecting his two children — a 10-year-old son with mild autism and a 12-year-old visually impaired daughter — without proper supervision.

The alleged incident occurred at their home in Elmina Valley, Shah Alam, on March 15.

He was charged under Section 33(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a penalty of up to RM5,000, two years’ jail, or both.

The court granted him RM10,000 bail, ordered him to report monthly to police, and surrender his passport. Case mention is set for September 4.
