SINGAPORE — A 19-year-old Singaporean, Shaaqir Noor’rifqy Mohammed Noorrizat, pleaded guilty today to extorting S$2,000 from a man after luring him on a dating app by posing as a minor.

Shaaqir and his 17-year-old accomplice, who cannot be named, pretended to be underage on apps like Grindr and Telegram to trap men seeking sex, then demanded money to keep silent.

On November 6, 2024, they tricked a 24-year-old man into meeting at a Bukit Batok flat void deck, confronted him, recorded the encounter, and forced him to withdraw and hand over S$2,000 before deleting the video.

Shaaqir admitted to masterminding the scheme. He faces sentencing in August after probation and reformative training reports. His accomplice’s case is ongoing.
