GEORGE TOWN — A 25-year-old part-time hotel worker, S. Prasanth, pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court today to raping and sexually assaulting an Australian woman at a cemetery in Mount Erskine on June 28.
He admitted to raping the victim in a car while threatening her with scissors, and to committing unnatural sex, offences carrying up to 30 and 20 years’ jail respectively, plus whipping.
The court denied bail due to the severity of the crime and its impact on Malaysia-Australia ties. Hearing is set for July 31.
