JOHOR BARU — A man with gunshot wounds was dumped at Hospital Sultanah Aminah early Thursday after a failed robbery in Iskandar Puteri, and later died of his injuries.
Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar said CCTV showed two men abandoning the 42-year-old victim’s body at the hospital entrance around 1.40am, about an hour after four masked men armed with machetes attempted to rob a vehicle near the Second Link Expressway. One occupant of the vehicle opened fire, forcing the robbers to flee.
The deceased, from Sungai Petani with prior criminal records, was believed to be among the suspects. A post-mortem confirmed he died from chest and abdomen gunshot wounds.
Later that day, police arrested three men — two Malaysians and an Indian national, aged 30s to 40s — in Dang Wangi, Kuala Lumpur. Among them was a licensed bodyguard. Police seized a Glock upper receiver, firearm permit, bullets, casings, and a car used in the crime.
The trio are remanded until July 10 as investigations continue under laws for murder, rioting with weapons, and illegal use of firearms.
