SUNGAI PETANI — Police arrested three men behind a syndicate selling fake medical certificates (MCs) in Kuala Muda over the past two years.
Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the suspects, in their 30s and 40s, sold MCs for RM25–RM30 each without any medical consultation, mostly to civil servants.
The syndicate was uncovered during an integrity probe into a low-ranking policeman who frequently submitted MCs.
A raid at Taman Songket Indah on June 26 seized about 20 fake MCs, doctor-name rubber stamps, a laptop, printer, tablets, and paper.
One suspect, a heart patient, allegedly copied doctors’ names during hospital visits to create the fake stamps, though their job titles were incorrect.
The case is being investigated under Section 468 of the Penal Code.
