KUALA LUMPUR — The parents of 21-year-old Thavaneswari Mohan, who died after falling from the 6th floor of her hostel, are demanding a thorough police probe, suspecting foul play linked to bullying.
Her mother, Lalitha Arulappan, 43, and father, Mohan Perumal, 45, believe she may have been pushed, saying she appeared distressed and bruised during a video call hours before the fall. They said another student was seen intimidating her during the call, after which she fell silent and seemed fearful.
Thavaneswari, a diploma student in police forensics at a private international college in Kuala Lumpur, was staying at the college hostel in Sentul when the incident happened on July 2.
Her parents were notified by hostel staff at 6.53am that she had fallen. She was admitted unconscious to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital but succumbed to severe injuries later that afternoon.
Describing her as a lively young woman who dreamed of wearing a police uniform, her grieving parents urged police and the college to reveal the truth and ensure justice, saying they have also sought legal help.
“We want to know what really happened. Our daughter is gone, but the truth must come out,” they pleaded.
