KUALA LUMPUR — Bangladesh has assured full cooperation with Malaysian authorities after 36 of its nationals were arrested in a crackdown on the Bangladeshi Radical Militant Group (GMRB).
Its Foreign Affairs Ministry said the High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is in close contact with Malaysian officials, seeking details on the individuals and allegations, while monitoring the case and offering support to affected citizens.
Five suspects have been charged in court, with others under investigation or facing deportation.
The ministry reaffirmed Bangladesh’s strong stance against terrorism and militancy, pledging continued collaboration with Malaysia.
Police said the group, which spread IS ideology online using Malaysian IPs, was uncovered during a three-phase operation from April to June, leading to the arrest of 36 members, including its leader, and dismantling its Johor-based network.
