The first day of the new school term in Sarawak has been disrupted as 26 schools remain closed due to worsening floods. State Education Director Omar Mahli confirmed that schools in Daro, Selangau, Tatau, and Sebauh are either flooded or have their access roads submerged. This has affected thousands of students who were preparing to return to class today.
In addition to the closures, eight other schools are being used as temporary evacuation centers (PPS) to house displaced residents. The state government is monitoring the situation closely, with teachers and staff on standby to resume classes once the waters recede. Parents have been advised to stay updated through official channels regarding the reopening dates.
